Through the CDF Freedom Schools model, we empower youth to excel and believe in their ability to make a difference in themselves, their families, communities, country, and world with hope, education and action. 

We provide scholars with rich, culturally relevant pedagogy and high quality books that deepen scholars’ understanding of themselves and all they have in common with others. In a multiracial, multicultural, democratic society, CDF Freedom Schools programs enable scholars to believe in their ability and responsibility to make a difference. All while instilling in them a love of reading to help them avoid summer learning loss.

Summer Scholars
Explore, create and connect at Summer Scholars! Summer Scholars is free and open to students in grades pre-K - 8. Classes start June 23 and end July 31. Learn more on the Summer Scholars webpage.

Super Summer

Minneapolis Kids Summer
In need of child care during the summer months? Minneapolis Kids provides youth entering grades K-7 with a variety of choice-based activities designed specifically for their grade level. For the past several years, we have offered monthly food distributions at HIA. We want you to know that we have this year's food distribution dates set. All are welcome and it is always first come, first served. We hope to see many of you there!
